What Legal Options Do Injured Drivers Have After a Car Accident in Goodlettsville, TN?

After a car accident in Goodlettsville, an injured driver may be able to seek compensation from the insurance that covers the crash, turn to their own uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, or file a lawsuit if the claim doesn't settle.

To show what happened, you can use the police report, photos of the vehicles, and witness statements. These records can help explain how the crash happened on Springfield Highway and back up the details of your claim.

While the claim is open, medical payments coverage on your own policy, if you have it, can help pay your bills as you recover. Your health insurance may also cover doctor visits and other treatment while you wait.

Depending on your losses, you may recover medical costs, income lost while you were out of work, and the cost of repairing or replacing your car. You may also receive payment for the pain and emotional strain your injuries cause.

Under Tennessee law, you generally have only one year from the crash date to file a personal injury lawsuit. If you miss that deadline, you may lose your right to seek compensation through the courts.

When it isn't clear which insurance policies apply after a serious crash, a car accident lawyer can find the available coverage and talk with the insurers involved. An attorney can also make sure your claim is filed within Tennessee's one-year deadline.
