Cross Plains, TN (August 13, 2026) – On Wednesday, August 12, five people were injured in a head-on collision at the 12000 block of Owens Chapel Road, near Cross Plains. The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m.
Robertson County Emergency Medical Services and the Cross Plains Fire Department were called to the two-vehicle crash. Four ambulances were eventually sent to assist the three adults and two children involved.
Two of the adults were critically injured. An EMS paramedic supervisor administered emergency blood products to one of them before transport.
Crews requested a medical helicopter, but the nearest available aircraft was approximately 28 minutes away. Due to the extended wait, ambulances transported all five injured people by ground.
The two critically injured adults were taken to a Nashville hospital. Further details about the injuries to the children and third adult have not been released.
Authorities continue to examine what caused the head-on crash.
Our thoughts are with everyone injured, and we hope they make full and steady recoveries.
Head-on crashes in Cross Plains, TN are dangerous because the force of a direct collision can cause severe or fatal injuries. Occupants may experience brain trauma, internal bleeding, broken bones, spinal cord damage, and serious chest injuries.
During the collision, occupants may be thrown forward or sideways despite wearing seat belts. This sudden movement can damage internal organs or injure the abdomen and limbs. Some injuries may not cause immediate symptoms.
After emergency treatment, you may need surgery, diagnostic testing, blood transfusions, or hospitalization. Your recovery may also involve rehabilitation, physical therapy, medical equipment, or assistance at home. Some injuries can permanently affect mobility and independence.
Depending on the circumstances, compensation may cover your medical expenses, lost earnings, pain, disability, scarring, and reduced quality of life. Future treatment costs may also be included, although available insurance coverage can affect the amount recovered.
When a claim becomes disputed, a car accident lawyer can examine how the vehicles approached each other and identify potentially responsible parties. An attorney may also calculate your future losses, negotiate with insurers, and challenge an inadequate settlement offer.
