Bulls Gap, TN (October 1, 2026) – Two drivers were injured in a head-on wreck on Highway 66 in Bulls Gap on Wednesday, September 30. The collision happened at about 4:13 p.m.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on an uphill right-hand curve when it crossed the center line and struck a southbound Nissan Frontier.
The impact pushed the Nissan off the right side of the road. The Chevrolet spun counterclockwise and came to rest facing west.
Emergency crews assisted those involved. Highway 66 South was temporarily closed while crews worked at the crash site.
The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
We wish both injured drivers a full and steady recovery.
Head-on crashes are especially dangerous because two vehicles traveling toward each other can collide with tremendous force. That force can cause serious head, chest, spinal, and other injuries to drivers and passengers.
When a vehicle crosses the center line, several factors may be involved, including distraction, impairment, wrong-way driving, or drifting out of a travel lane. The cause of each head-on crash depends on the circumstances involved.
If questions arise about how the collision happened, police reports, roadway photos, witness accounts, and vehicle damage can help show each vehicle’s movement before impact. This evidence may also help resolve disputes about fault.
After a Tennessee crash, the at-fault driver’s liability insurance may cover accident-related losses. Medical payments coverage or health insurance may also help with eligible treatment costs while a liability claim is being handled.
Once fault is established, compensation may include medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and other losses tied to your injuries. The amount available depends on the harm caused and the insurance coverage involved.
Because Tennessee generally gives you one year from the crash date to file a personal injury lawsuit, waiting too long can affect the right to seek compensation through the courts.
As a claim moves forward, a car accident lawyer can review how the crash happened, address disputes over fault, identify losses that may be included, and communicate with insurance companies on your behalf.
