Three Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-40 in Roane Co., TN

October 15, 2026

Roane County, TN (October 15, 2026) – Three people were injured in a crash involving two semi-trucks and a passenger car on westbound Interstate 40 near mile marker 355 in Roane County on Tuesday, October 13. The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m.

The Kingston Fire Department and other emergency crews assisted the injured people. Two ambulances were also requested.

All westbound lanes remained blocked for nearly two hours as crews cleared the roadway and tow trucks removed the damaged vehicles. At least one lane later reopened.

Westbound drivers were diverted at Gallaher Road, leading to traffic backups along Highway 70 and through downtown Kingston as motorists made their way back to I-40. Traffic also slowed in the eastbound lanes.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating what led to the collision.

We wish everyone injured a full and steady recovery.

How Is Fault Determined After a Multi-Vehicle Crash in Roane County, TN?

Fault after a multi-vehicle crash in Roane County is determined by reviewing what each driver did before the collision and whether those actions contributed to it. Depending on what happened, more than one driver may be responsible.

When drivers give different accounts, crash reports, photographs, available video, vehicle damage, and truck records can help piece together how the collision occurred. These details may show which actions contributed to the crash.

If a truck driver played a role in the collision, their employer may also bear responsibility, depending on the circumstances. Poor vehicle maintenance or unsafe trucking company practices could also be relevant.

Depending on how the crash affected you, you may seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering. If your injuries require ongoing care, your claim may also include the cost of follow-up appointments, rehabilitation, and future treatment.

Under Tennessee law, you may still recover compensation if you were partly responsible for the crash, as long as your share of fault is below 50%. However, the amount you receive will be reduced based on your percentage of fault.

When multiple insurers are involved, a truck accident lawyer in Kingston, TN, can review the available coverage, address disagreements over fault, and communicate with insurance companies.
