Putnam County, TN (September 23, 2026) – Several people were seriously injured Wednesday morning, September 23, after a multi-vehicle crash near 6465 Cherry Creek Road in Putnam County.
The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. Emergency personnel responded to the location, and those injured were taken to a Cookeville hospital for treatment.
Cherry Creek Road was closed around the curve for about an hour while crews handled the crash. The narrow roadway further restricted traffic during that time.
The crash remains under investigation.
We hope everyone injured makes a full and speedy recovery.
People seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash may be able to seek compensation for medical expenses, lost income, and other losses if another party may be legally responsible. The types of compensation available can depend on the injuries, financial losses, insurance coverage, and circumstances of the crash.
Medical treatment can create significant expenses after a serious crash. Hospital care, emergency treatment, diagnostic testing, medications, follow-up appointments, and rehabilitation may all contribute to the total cost of recovery. Keeping medical bills and treatment records organized can help document those expenses.
Injuries may also affect a person's ability to work. Time away from employment, reduced hours, or other changes in a person's work schedule can result in lost income. Pay stubs, employer records, and other employment documents may help show how the injuries affected earnings.
Other losses can arise as recovery continues. Transportation to medical appointments, vehicle repairs, towing, rental costs, and other out-of-pocket expenses may add to the financial effects of a serious crash. Receipts and other records can help keep track of these costs.
Information from the scene may also be useful when reviewing what happened. Photographs of the roadway, the curve, vehicle damage, traffic conditions, and other visible details can preserve information from the scene. Witness accounts and available video may provide additional information about how the vehicles were moving before the crash.
Insurance coverage can become another consideration when multiple vehicles are involved. Policy documents, claim correspondence, medical records, and repair estimates may help identify the coverage that could potentially apply to different losses.
A car accident lawyer in Tennessee can review the available evidence, medical records, financial documentation, and insurance information and explain what legal options may be available. An attorney may also help identify additional losses that could be relevant to a potential claim.
