Five-Vehicle Crash Injures Several on I-24 W near MM 58 in Nashville, TN

September 18, 2026

Nashville, TN (September 18, 2026) – Five vehicles were involved in a crash on Friday morning, September 18, on Interstate 24 West near mile marker 58 in Nashville.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene after the vehicles became tangled together. One driver who stopped to help another person was then hit by a passing vehicle that left them with serious injuries. Four other drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered critical.

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under review.

We're thinking of everyone injured as they recover.

Can a Good Samaritan Recover Compensation After Being Hit in Nashville, TN?

Tennessee law generally allows an injured person to pursue compensation from the driver who struck them, even in situations where the injured person had stopped to help someone else. Being a good Samaritan doesn't typically reduce a person's legal right to recover damages, though the specific facts of how the second collision occurred can still affect how fault is assigned.

Tennessee follows a modified comparative fault rule, in which an injured person can recover damages as long as they are found less than 50% at fault, with their recovery reduced by their own share of responsibility.

In multi-vehicle crashes, sorting out how much each driver contributed, including the driver who caused the original crash and the one who struck the person who stopped to help, usually requires a detailed look at the sequence of events.

Therefore, many people turn to a car accident lawyer to help identify each driver's potential liability and gather evidence from a multi-vehicle scene to build a strong claim.

At Fox & Farmer, we work with injured drivers across Tennessee to sort through these complicated situations. If you are dealing with a similar accident, we are here to go over your situation and walk you through your possible next steps.
