Two Injured in DUI Crash on Nashville Hwy in Spring Hill, TN

August 14, 2026

Spring Hill, TN (August 14, 2026) – A woman and a 10-year-old boy were injured on Tuesday evening, August 11, after a vehicle left Nashville Highway and struck an electrical pole in Spring Hill.

The crash occurred along Nashville Highway north of Columbia. A tow truck driver told the Spring Hill Police Department that a blue Chevrolet Equinox had been traveling erratically for several miles, including driving along the shoulder and passing other vehicles.

The Chevrolet later went off the roadway and hit an electrical pole. Live wires around the vehicle complicated efforts to remove the occupants.

The female passenger was critically hurt and had to be removed from the vehicle before being flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The child was also injured and taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The driver was not hurt and was arrested on charges including DUI, reckless endangerment, vehicular assault, driving on a revoked license, and violating an ignition interlock requirement.

The investigation into this wreck remains active.

We hope the woman and the child recover fully.

How Do Claims Work When a Child Is Injured in Spring Hill, TN?

When a child is injured in a Tennessee crash, a parent or legal guardian generally handles the child's personal injury claim on the child's behalf. Tennessee law recognizes a child's right to pursue damages for injuries, while specific rules govern who may bring the claim and how a minor's recovery is handled.

A child's claim can include losses connected to medical treatment, future medical needs, and other damages resulting from the injury. Unlike an adult claim, a child's injuries may not be fully understood immediately. Records from emergency treatment, follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, and other care can help establish the extent of the child's injuries and whether additional treatment may be needed.

Under Tennessee’s statute of limitations, most personal injury claims must be filed within one year, but when the injured person is a minor, that deadline is typically paused until the child turns 18, giving them until their 19th birthday to bring a claim. However, certain types of cases may have different or shorter deadlines, so it is important to confirm the exact time limit based on the specific facts of the injury.

A car accident lawyer can review the child's age, the date of the crash, medical records, and the circumstances surrounding the injury to determine which deadline applies.

At Fox & Farmer, we can explain how Tennessee's rules may apply to each family's circumstances. We can review your case and help your family understand the options available under state law.
