A 25-year-old Knoxville man is struck, killed during rush hour

A 25-year-old Knoxville man was struck and killed by a motorist while riding his motorbike during rush hour on Oct. 19. The incident occurred at the intersection of Sullivan Road and Western Avenue just before 8:39 a.m.

The Knoxville Police Department accident report shows that the driver of a Kia Forte was attempting to make a left turn onto Western Avenue in front of the motorcyclist in the moments before the crash occurred. As she attempted to do so, she collided with the motorcyclist who was approaching with the oncoming traffic.

Although witnesses said that the motorcyclist made an attempt to stop to avoid colliding with the Kia, he was unable to do so. The impact of the crash caused him to be ejected from his motorbike and onto the car.

Even though he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, it did little to protect him. By the time emergency responders arrived on the scene, there wasn't much that they could do to save him. He was pronounced dead.

Police arriving at the scene questioned the 24-year-old Knoxville woman believed to have been responsible for causing the crash. After determining that she nor her 3-year-old had been injured in the crash, they transported her to University of Tennessee Medical Center. Once there, hospital staff took her blood sample as is required under state law when a fatal wreck occurs.

When a family loses their loved one unexpectedly, such as in a car crash, in many cases they don't have the money readily available to cover medical costs and funeral bills that immediately may become due. This added pressure can make it difficult for them to grieve their loved one's loss as they need to.

A Knoxville car accidents attorney can help take the weight off your shoulders of having to fight with insurance companies to get the wrongful death compensation you rightfully deserve.
