You may automatically qualify for social security disability

Social Security Disability (SSD) benefits provide American citizens with compensation when they can no longer work due to a disability. Unfortunately, the SSD program has acquired a bad reputation as being notoriously difficult to navigate, which makes some disabled residents of Tennessee reluctant to apply.

It is true that the Social Security Administration (SSA) imposes strict eligibility guidelines, but these are necessary to prevent people from making fraudulent disability claims. This protects the program as well as those who truly do need SSD benefits.

However, it is probably not nearly as difficult as you may believe to qualify for social security disability. In fact, several medical conditions automatically qualify you to receive program benefits. These conditions include:

  • Coronary artery disease, chronic heart failure and other cardiovascular conditions
  • Neurological disorders such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and cerebral palsy
  • Musculoskeletal conditions and joint or bone dysfunctions
  • Disorders affecting the immune system such as lupus, HIV/AIDS, kidney disease and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Hemophilia, sickle cell disease and other blood disorders
  • Issues affecting the senses, including hearing and vision loss
  • Digestive tract conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, Crohn's disease and liver disease
  • Cystic fibrosis, asthma and additional respiratory conditions
  • Some mental conditions like schizophrenia, autism and even anxiety or depression

Although suffering from these disorders makes it easier to qualify for social security disability, you will still need to meet the program's requirements. This means providing the proper information to prove that you do suffer from a debilitating condition. Many people seek help meeting these requirements from a legal professional who has experience working with the Social Security Administration.
